Last night I pounded a bowl full of Joe Joe’s. If you’re not familiar, Joe Joe’s are Trader Joe’s “healthy” version of oreo cookies. I came home from a get together at a friend’s house where I snacked on baked organic blue corn chips and homemade salsa (which I supplied). It was one of those get togethers where everybody scares you and you’re pretty sure you don’t have anything of interest to say. So I came home and did the only reasonable thing…I poured myself a tall glass of almond milk, threw a bunch of Joe Joe’s in a bowl and laid in bed eating away my blues.
Call me sensitive, but I woke up in the middle of the night with negative thoughts. I’ve been on a roll of major mojo momentum this week and it was the first time that I wasn’t naturally accessing that place of joy and excitement. Shit. I rolled over and went back to sleep.
The alarm went off at 6 am because I love to work in the early morning hours. But I just ignored the music and went back to sleep. At 8 am my boy was pulling off my covers and trying to lift my limbs, “Mommy, come see my cage. Come on Mommy, I help you.” (Our boy is obsessed with being a monkey and likes to spend significant time in a dog kennel that he calls his zoo. Please don’t tell people this.)
I wanted to respond with an enthusiastic reply to the sweet kid, but I couldn’t. I just lay there, heavy, and frustrated. Why with everything I know about the ways to feel light, good in my body, happy and energetic had I once again kept myself from being able to jump out of bed. There I was growing angrier at my 3 yr. old for forcing me to open my eyes and feeling even more mad at myself for creating the situation.
It’s kind of like drinking. You know when you get wasted, and in the morning fog of a terrible hangover you swear you’ll NEVER do that again. That’s how I always feel about a food binge. It’s so not worth it. It’s not even THAT enjoyable. And right before bed?!
Sleep is such a sacred time for our bodies. Study after study tells us that during sleep our bodies cleanse and repair. So throwin’ down a bunch of Joe Joe’s and falling into a deep slumber means instead of the therapeutic repair my body is wanting to do, it’s got to deal with the crap I just loaded up on. No wonder I woke up feeling heavy and gross.
The solution? Upon rising, a glass of water with lemon and a couple drops of ProAlive liquid probiotics. Probiotics are the good bacteria that enable your digestive tract to kill off bad bacteria, viruses and yeast overgrowth. About 30 minutes later I had a tall glass of cold, fresh pressed Carrot and Romaine juice with a tad of lemon and ginger. Even juice haters would love this concoction. Sooo refreshing! Within minutes I could feel the weight lift and positivity crept back in. Woohoo!
By the way, fresh juice is the ultimate cleanser. Not only does it electromagnetically bind with the waste in your tissues to get it the hell out, but it’s chock full of Vitamins, Minerals, and Enzymes, all of which support your Immune System and give you tons of energy!
Next order of business? 1 colonic please!
