Ever Wish You Could Grow Your Own Food?

Hi Everyone,

This week, we’re in the garden because I wanted to inspire you to grow something that you can eat.  Whether it’s cherry tomatoes on your patio, or fresh basil on your kitchen window, I can tell you that growing your own food is one step on the “eating clean” journey that is definitely a game changer!

Eating clean is like a gateway drug.  Once you experience the lightness, vitality and joy that come from eating whole foods, being healthy gives way to even greater discoveries. Like how about the subtle interconnectedness of life?

For me it started with having to buy grocery carts full of produce for my juices.  I thought that economically it would make sense to grow some of our own greens.

With growing our own food, there came a more intimate understanding of the delicate balance of soil, nutrients, sun, and water.  We couldn’t just throw seeds in some dirt and expect Kale (we tried.)

My simple awareness of the elements, and the importance of their balance led me to see the earth from a new perspective.  Suddenly, my everyday background became a living, breathing being.  I understood, for the first time in my life, that we exist as part of a delicate and extraordinary ecosystem.  And whether we like it or not, our decisions and lifestyles effect the life and future of this ecosystem that could abundantly support us, if we’d let it.

Funny enough, our bodies are a microcosm of the macrocosm called nature.  How we treat our bodies, what we put into it, and how well we tend it creates an inner environment that has the potential to be like healthy soil, life generating and self healing.  Unfortunately, too many of us are experiencing the inflammations, headaches, digestive issues, and mental imbalances that come from an overtaxed and under nourished system.

But we can change everything, starting today, one step (and day) at a time!

Today, I wanted to share with you the secret wonders, and life expanding benefits of tending your own garden…even if it’s in LA…even if you start with pots!  It is so worth it!  Here’s my experience.  What’s been yours?

I love hearing what you’re doing that makes a difference in your life.  I want to know what you’re growing, where, and the effect it’s had on you!  Let us know in the comments section below.

Enjoy your week!

With love,
