This is such a great time of the year to consider WHAT our point is. WHAT we want to be, create, do.
But an even better question is WHY.
Why do we want to get healthy?
Why do we want to lose weight?
Why do we want to understand how to live healthy day in and day out?
I’ll share MY why…..
It started with the burning desire to feel better. Since I was a little girl, I had a lot of worries and the kind of sadness that would grab me out of nowhere and debilitate me.
Or I’d wake up on a beautiful day and my stomach would be in knots.
When I got to my 20’s I started reading everything I could about how to be happy. I studied religion, philosophy, self help, energy medicine, prayer, mediation, and I pulled gems from them all.
But the one tangible thing that made the biggest difference was how I ate. When I ate more plants, I felt alive. So I focused on doing that and made some progress.
But then I had a beautiful son who’s physiological makeup made me step it up. I NEEDED to know what foods would make this boy’s brain come alive. So I became a nutritionist and come to find out….plants are the healers.
So now, because I know that plants heal everything from mood swings to heart disease to neural activity, I want to hook my family up to an IV of greens. Just kidding. But I wish I could.
The point is that my WHY is my family. I want my son’s brain to continue to thrive, I want both of my kids to avoid allergies, I want my Dad to live way beyond his Dad, I want my Mom to gain energy with age, I want to know how to nurture everyone I love, I want to be really really old with Joel and I want us to both be creating and skipping and bending and laughing to the end.
I also want to be able to guide my family gently. They don’t want or need to be eating radically. But they DO need to understand how to navigate this world of pizzas and parties and 5:00 cocktails. And so I’m constantly refining my own lifestyle so that I can be their example. THEY are my WHY.
What do you want to create this year? And more importantly WHY?
If you want to lose a few pounds….dig a little deeper. What will that weight loss bring you?
For most of us, feeling like we are our ideal weight brings us confidence, energy, the feeling of being alive. If we can achieve this, and maintain this, then we can be the Mom, the wife, the woman, the creator, the lover, the example we want to be in the world. Maybe THAT’s your why.
Whatever it is, write it down, post it up, and share it! Let us know, comment below or post it to social media.
Let your WHY guide you, remind you, and add meaning to your doing.
Sending you so much love this season,
